19/ Beach stay in Anjajavy

Anjajavy is located 120km North of Majunga on the West coast of Madagascar, where the soft swell of the Mozambique Channel rocks you during your stay.

Anjajavy is truly a far flung destination ideally suited to those seeking a peaceful and remote holiday. Pristine beaches at the end of a peninsula that extends into a wide bay on the north west coast of the main land, untouched turquoise waters, the unique limestone tsingy and fascinating forests await you. But whilst this is a remote and exceptionally beautiful coast, with sandy coves and azure waters, the big plus point at Anjajavy is that it borders a superb dry forest reserve protecting a plethora of Madagascar unique wildlife ! Botanists will be able to add to their knowledge a large number of endemic and medicinal plants known by the locals.

DAY 1: Tuesday – Thursday – Saturday: TANA – ANJAJAVY

Early in the morning, transfer to the airport of “private charter” in Ivato, to board on a 90 minutes charter flight to Anjajavy. Departure at 07.30, then arrival in Anjajavy at 09.00.

DAY 2 – 3 : wednesday – thursday – friday : ANJAJAVY

Situated in the south western part Majunga, at the end of a peninsula, opened to the “Mozambique Canal”, Anjajavy is only accessible by private plane. Implanted in a bay and boarded with small creeks, a white sandy beach, it is an idyllic and just a paradise site. This is the first “Relais Chateaux” in Madagascar. Its architecture and bungalows are designed to have the maximum comfort with a traditional Malagasy way. All the bungalows are made and decorated with rose wood, the roofs are thatched with Satrana, an endemic palm of the country.

It has 1 swimming pool of 200 m2 facing the sea and surrounded by a nice garden. Anjajavy is just a “paradise on earth”. Set in a blue- emerald coloured see, in a luxuriant vegetation with a rich wildlife, it is a place where you can stay a whole week. Many activities are offered: like walking in the forest to see wildlife and to meet the village nearby. Many excursions on foot are available like “les pieds dans l’eau” which is crossing the mangrove during the low tide, “Crique en Crique” which is walking across the different creeks around, “la balade du géant” which is to discover the huge baobab (3m of diameter), “ à la rencontre des Sakalava” which is a trekking in the forest to meet the local tribe Sakalava.

DAY 4: Saturday – Tuesday – Thursday : ANJAJAVY

Charter flight back to Ivato. Transfer to your hotel in Tana or assistance for your international flight.
