These tours are as the name implies, well, a bit more adventurous. They venture off the beaten track and travel through less visited areas. Tar roads give way to dirt tracks, bridges to very simple local ferries or river fords. During the rainy season the tracks are washed out, the rivers are too high to cross; thus no Adventure Tours during the rainy season (November-April). Even in the dry season things don’t always go according to plan, but hey that’s what adventure is all about. Accommodation can be basic (remember “less visited areas”?) , but it’s more the exception than the rule. But what do you get as reward for surviving bumpy, dusty tracks and maybe a night in a backpackers hotel (don’t let that scare you off : facilities ensuite…) : wide open landscapes, small authentic villages, lovely local people happy to meet people “from outside”.By the way the standard greeting is : “is there news ? “.
